L’Abuerge is the closest you’ll get to feeling like you’re in Las Vegas without taking a flight. Going through Houston during rush hour can add more than an hour to your trip.

At a little under five hours, it is certainly within range from the Capitol City, but be sure to plan ahead for Houston traffic. L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles is one of the more luxurious casinos close to Austin that you’ll find. There are tons of cheap hotel deals to be found on the weekend can be found for around $60 and the restaurants there even offer happy hours throughout the week!

This is also the most friendly casino as far as your pocketbook is concerned. Dining and live entertainment options, as well as being able to walk across the border for some inexpensive shopping (bring your passport). Kickapoo has plenty to keep you entertained for the duration of your stay. Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Resort and Hotel is a little reminiscent of Vegas a little mirage of excitement in the middle of the desert, but don’t let the size deter you. The proximity to the border causes you to pass by a lot of law enforcement. After taking 35 south through San Antonio, you get to enjoy the desolateness of 57 west for the last stretch of your journey. Kickapoo is only a little more than three and a half hours from Austin, and, in my opinion, a nice country drive. It is literally right on the border between Texas and Mexico, as well as being the closest casino to Austin. Kickapoo Casino is the second casino featured here, due to the fact that it is the only gambling facility that’s actually in Texas. This list will save you from wasting time (and gambling money) on some of the of the losers.
